Micro Mini Sew Along 2023!

It's almost May again, which means the Micro Mini Sew-Along will begin in the coming weeks. It runs May 1st - 31st which gives you plenty of time to whip up a super small adorable creation! This is the 6th year of the sew-along and if you check out the tag #microminisal on Instagram you will see hundreds of micro mini creations that many of my followers have been creating over the past few years.
If you would like to take part in the Sew-Aong (aka SAL), simply follow me on Instagram at @berry_birdy for updates, and #microminisal to see who is participating and their tiny, cute little entries to win some fabulous prizes!

What's a Micro Mini?

It's a teeny, tiny little mini quilted project that is 8" or smaller. (The first year it was 6" and I decided that 8" may be better for those who are trying out tiny sewing for the first time :)). It can be a tiny quilt, a postcard, a luggage tag, anything you would like that is quilted.

How do I participate?

Follow @berry_birdy on Instagram and use #microminisal when posting your amazing small creations so everyone can see, and you will have the chance to win some cool prizes! You can use whatever sewing or quilting technique you wish, with your own pattern, or any design you like. I have also created a Micro Mini Pattern Collection which is available on my Etsy site and Website and will be releasing the second collection in the coming week! Pattern available HERE.

Every week there will be a winners chosen, so you have lots of chances to win some great items.

Your project just needs to be 8" or less in size. You can make one a day, or one a week, or as many as you like! There are no limits to how many you can make and tag #microminisal.

Every week there will be prizes given away to some lucky talented makers by our sponsors. Each week the winners will be chosen by them. Mini Dresden Plate Pincushion

With a few small little leftover pieces and this adorable vintage milk white bowl, I made this super easy pincushion for my sewing room! These instructions are so easy to follow and you will find it come together very quickly! Please note: this pincushion will fit into a 5"- 6" container. Cut 13 pieces from your favourite scraps that measure 1 1/2"X 3". Fold them over lengthwise and sew a 1/4" seam across the top. Turn the point right side out and press as shown. Sew the pieces together along the sides using a 1/4" seam. Sew them all in a row. This is the back of the pieces sewn together. Lay on your cutting table and trim them to 2 1/4" from the point. Sew them together to form a complete circle. Using your finger, fold all the seams in the same direction making the fabrics overlap slightly to form the flower shape. You will need to gently move the pieces so that they all end up folding the same amount. Press well. Cu
