Teeny Tiny Pincushions!

Sew-a-longs are quite popular on Facebook and Instagram with the ability to post lovely creations every day and share the wonderful things we have been working on together in groups.  The most recent one I have participated in was hosted by the delightful @tinkerellen on IG.  I have included some pics of the little gems I have been sewing up, and have had a few requests for a couple of the patterns! I am overjoyed when there are others that would like to create the things that I have made :)

The instructions are for the strawberry hexie pinnie and the snail pinnie.  The hexie is paper pieced, so you will need to print out the pattern and the sew onto the paper with the paper pieced method, then sew the entire front onto a back fabric leaving one side open to turn.  Then, stuff with batting and if you like, sew a little ribbon on to the last edge.

For the Snail Pinne;  You will need to print out the pattern, then cut out your shapes from the paper.   Place them onto your fabric, (right sides facing) and cut a 1/4" seam allowance around both pieces.
Do the same for the head and the body.  Sew the head onto the body piece with right sides together using a small seam (approx 3/8" or smaller) for the front and back.  Sew the front and back together leaving the bottom open for turning and stuffing.
Turn right side out and stuff firmly.  Hand stitch the bottom closed and sew through both layers in the centre for the snail swirl shape on the back.

Thanks for following and enjoy making your mini's!!

Micro Mini Log Cabin Heart Pattern

Love is definitely a funny thing. The dictionary describes it as an intense feeling of deep affection. Wikipedia explains love as ‘encompasses a range of strong and positive emotional and mental states.’ However we try to explain it or understand it, love is very exciting, complicated and even painful.  I have spent a good portion of my life dedicated to those I love, by comitting my time, energy, and efforts while creating lasting and meaninful relationships. I have collected these lasting memories that are being stored on the shelves of my life. James M. Barrie said it perfectly; “God gave us memory so that we might have roses in December.” I still remember my first love...Ah! The sweetness of young love! We were in Grade 1, and on Valentine’s Day he presented me with the most wonderful handmade gift, a stuffed heart. It was made of flannel and had white lace around the outer edges. It looked like it was something he made, with hot glue holding it together, although I am sure he ...

Mini Dresden Plate Pincushion

With a few small little leftover pieces and this adorable vintage milk white bowl, I made this super easy pincushion for my sewing room!  These instructions are so easy to follow and you will find it come together very quickly! Please note: this pincushion will fit into a 5"- 6" container. Cut 13 pieces from your favourite scraps that measure 1 1/2"X 3". Fold them over lengthwise and sew a 1/4" seam across the top.  Turn the point right side out and press as shown. Sew the pieces together along the sides using a 1/4" seam.  Sew them all in a row. This is the back of the pieces sewn together. Lay on your cutting table and trim them to 2 1/4" from the point. Sew them together to form a complete circle. Using your finger, fold all the seams in the same direction making the fabrics overlap slightly to form the flower shape.  You will need to gently move the pieces so that they all end up folding the same amount.  Press well. Cu...
